Laura Silvia Battaglia, giornalista, racconta il suo Yemen. Ci arrivò ragazza, per studiare l'arabo in una prestigiosa istituzione. Passeggiava, imparava a conoscerne la cultura, faceva amicizie, trovava l'amore. Ora, di quei campi da gioco, di quella città bellissima, rimangono macerie, la guerra ha distrutto la città e la vita delle persone.
La sposa yemenita è la ragazza di cui racconta i giorni del matrimonio del libro, di una festa per sole donne, madri, figlie, mogli, sorelle, in un clima di libertà e gioia. Ma è anche la stessa Battaglia, che in Yemen ha trovato l'amore e che a Milano si è sposata con il suo Taha.
Un libro veloce da leggere, ma che lascia nel cuore un pezzo di quello spirito che vuole raccontare, di quella comunanza tra persone legate non dalla religione ma da uno spirito umano, dal sentirsi tutti uniti nel essere vivi e in questa terra. Ho trovato bellissima le parti in cui Laura parla con lo sheikh più importante della città, un bellissimo confronto tra religioni, fatto di interesse reciproco e rispetto.
Insomma, il libro lo consiglio tanto, non solo perchè è bellissimo, ma per conoscere un mondo lontano dal nostro e che in questo momento affronta una guerra civile terribile che lo sta uccidendo.

A comic book story, a way that seems simple, to tell a much more important story.
Laura Silvia Battaglia, journalist, tells her Yemen. She arrived there when she was a young girl, to study Arabic in a prestigious institution. She walked, she learned to know the culture, she made friends, she found love. Now, of those playgrounds, of that beautiful city, remain rubble, the war has destroyed the city and the lives of people.
The Yemeni bride is the girl of whom she tells the days of the marriage in the book, of a party for women only, mothers, daughters, wives, sisters, in an atmosphere of freedom and joy. But the bride is Battaglia too, who in Yemen has found love and that in Milan married her Taha.
A book that is quick to read, but leaves in the heart a piece of that spirit that wants to tell, of that commonality between people linked not by religion but by a human spirit, by feeling all united in being alive and in this earth. I found beautiful the parts where Laura talks with the most important sheikh of the city, a beautiful confronting of religions, made of mutual interest and respect.
In short, I recommend the book a lot, not only because it is beautiful, but to know a world far from ours and that now faces a terrible civil war that is killing it.
