Ci sono diversi piani in questo romanzo, c'è il presente, il passato e una dimensione romanzata assolutamente fantascientifica. Ma tutto si incastra perfettamente a creare un quadro generale completo.
Credo di aver pensato diverse volte durante la lettura come fosse possibile che la Atwood non abbia ancora vinto un premio Nobel, perché come lei poche e pochi altro sanno scrivere!

A book that has kept me very good company in quarantine, but one could say that there are several books one inside the other, perfectly mixed. The cover reads "The overwhelming story of a love and a century...", but more than the love story, what really conquered me about this book is the extraordinary story of a woman, Iris Chase, who at a superficial vision, she would have been seen as the classic trophy and lackluster wife of a powerful man. Iris is a powerful character, she lives through a historical period full of events and hers is a life to be told. I love her frankness, her rawness, her resilience.
There are several plans in this novel, there is the present, the past and a sci-fi fictional dimension. But everything fits perfectly to create a complete overall picture.
I thought several times during the reading how it was possible that Atwood hasn't yet won a Nobel Prize, because like her few others can write!
